2020 continues to hold a wealth of surprises, most — in the realm of sneakers at least — coming from overseas during Paris Fashion Week. Reebok, among many others, was undoubtedly one to keep an eye out for as they walked the Margiela runway show with their tabi-transformed Instapump Fury. And as the Boston stalwarts continue to navigate the world of high fashion, it seems they’re making a return trip to former family member Juun.J, the Korean designer who flew relatively under the radar with his minimal set of Ex-O-Fits. Now, likely thanks to the brand’s gradually changing artistic direction, he has been given much more leeway in terms of design, something he’s making full use of as he pulls the once unproduced Pump Court straight out of the archive.
Originally designed by Steve Smith, the silhouette basks in a retro future aesthetic, sharing similarities with his magnum opus though equipped with a much sleeker overall profile. Its look is then transmogrified to fit into the menswear label’s core themes, an amalgamation of both youth and street culture. Metallic leathers furnish much of the pair’s outward construction, shining mostly on the silver variant. A clean triple white accompanies, lying low in terms of texture as well as tonality, affixing with the technical fastening system and additional hardshell cages. Paneling underneath wraps unto a tightly wound mesh base, ending towards the heel with an aggressive TPU counter that’s akin to more brutalist architecture.
Grab a detailed look at both upcoming offerings right here, and if you’re interested in grabbing either of the two, they’ll be dropping for $280 USD come September of this year.
