With the many issues our planet currently faces from global warming to the increasing amounts of waste, footwear brands have been attempting to be more cognizant of the environment both when producing and promoting their products. We’ve seen this evident with adidas’ ongoing series with Parley, Converse’s Renew initiative, and more, and now K-Swiss is looking to chime in the conversation. Having kept relatively quiet since their last collaboration with Breaking Bad, the American footwear brand is now turning to Heal the Bay — a non-profit organization based out of SoCal devoted to keeping coastal waters of Los Angeles safe — for a brand new project inspired by California’s state fish: the Orange Garibaldi. Visually vibrant, these Heritage kicks are executed with a vertebrate animal approach as its tonal uppers are crafted with orange scaly textures meant to translate the look of its muse. Embroidered on the heels is HTB’s signature logo that arrives in the form of an almost x-ray type fish silhouette that emphasizes its oceanic theme. The shoes will be available for purchase on K-Swiss’ web store come May 27th, and will retail for $80 adults (men and women) and $60 for kids. 100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to Heal the Bay.
Elsewhere in sneaker news, here’s a potential first look at the next Paranoise Air Force 1.
