Jordan Brand has been toeing the line between retro and contemporary influences for quite some time, with releases often leaning towards one side or the other. And just as they frequently and accurately bring back icons like the Jordan 6 “Carmine,” they simultaneously tweak heritage icons further past the point of recognizability. In the case of this upcoming Air Jordan 1, which created quite a buzz in its “Bred” color code, the Jumpman is going all-in on patent leathers.
Though many would surely prefer to have the OG, the offering creates a rather stark and welcome contrast to the current line-up. As it stands, the “Bred” — or “Banned” colorway as some prefer — will be replicated quite closely. The “Varsity Red” will still dress the toe, swoosh, and counter, but it’ll now do so in a much more polished patent. The black panels adjacent will certainly follow suit, with the tongue likely sitting adjacent in nylon.
For now, all we have to see is the mock-up above. For more details and images, sit tight as they’ll likely surface closer to the expected the Fall/Holiday season.
